Nicholas Lillywhite
AI and Machine Learning to Detect Fungal Infections in Near Real Time
About Nicholas
Nicholas Lillywhite is the Head of Data and AI at BioScout, a deep-tech company building the world’s first real-time airborne disease tracking platform for agriculture and beyond. With a background in enterprise-scale data systems, Nicholas spent over five years at one of Australia’s top ASX-listed companies before joining BioScout, where he has played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s data and AI infrastructure. Over the past two years, he’s led the evolution of BioScout’s platform from a handful of deployed units to a robust, high-resolution network. Under his leadership, the team transitioned from manual labelling workflows to a real-time system that identifies and tracks over 17 key airborne particulates across various crop types, enterprise applications, and environments.
Nicholas is passionate about building AI systems that have real-world impact. He believes machine learning isn’t just a new technology—it’s a new lens through which we can understand and solve problems that once seemed out of reach. At FutureAg 2025, he’ll pull back the curtain on how BioScout’s platform works, in particular the scale of BioScout's now global footprint, and how BioScout's data lets you see the invisible.
