FUTUREAG 2026 POSTPONED TO 2027 AMID MOUNTING PRESSURE ON AUSTRALIAN FARMERS
MELBOURNE — The organisers of FutureAg powered by AGRITECHNICA have announced the postponement of the 2026 event to July 2027, following direct industry feedback and escalating pressures across the agricultural sector domestically and internationally. The 2026 exhibition and conference, originally scheduled to take place in Melbourne, showcases agricultural machinery, farming technology and practical solutions for future farming in Australia.
The decision comes after extensive consultation with farmers and exhibitors in response to the ongoing global fuel crisis, as well as fertilizer shortage and the significant impact it is having on Australian farmers and the broader agricultural sector. Many farmers are currently facing sharply increased operational costs, higher uncertainty and greater day-to-day pressures, making it difficult for them to commit the time and resources required to attend an exhibition in 2026.
While the risks are expected to shift towards availability and price increases mid-year, the uncertainty for farmers grows. As well as that the machinery manufacturers and dealers are facing increased freight costs and longer transit times for machinery imports, leaving them with reduced planning reliability. The premise of FutureAg has always been – and continues to be – to serve the agriculture industry, and this decision reaffirms that priority. Farmers are among those most affected from a livelihood perspective in Australia during this challenging period.
As a show of support, DLG (German Agricultural Society) and Hannover Fairs Australia, co organisers, will jointly donate $5,000 to Rural Aid, Australia’s leading charity supporting farmers, their families and rural communities. Across the country, they provide practical, timely, and meaningful assistance through a team of passionate, committed professionals who understand the unique pressures of rural life.
“DLG is an association of farmers for farmers, and we understand the challenges and priorities facing the agricultural sector in Australia. FutureAg is built for the agricultural community – and right now, it’s important to take a step back and ensure the timing is right for farmers. We will relaunch the event in 2027, ensuring it takes place under conditions that support strong engagement from farmers.” added Jens Kremer DLG Markets GmbH, Managing Director
“We have a responsibility to the industry, and our priority right now is to support farmers in line with their current realities and needs,” said Tim Bostridge, Managing Director of Hannover Fairs Australia. “FutureAg is built to create tangible value for farmers and agribusinesses alike. That’s why we are committed to delivering the event at a time when the industry can fully benefit from the innovation, investment, and connections it enables.”
“DLG and Hannover Fairs Australia remain firmly committed to FutureAg as a key platform for the agricultural sector. We look forward to bringing FutureAg powered by AGRITECHNICA back in 2027 – when the conditions are right for the industry to come together, seize new opportunities, and drive sustainable growth.”
FutureAg 2027 is planned to be held in Australia in July. Details to come.
