About Michael
Michael Taylor is a 6th generation farmer in the New England Tablelands of NSW, Australia. He runs ultrafine Merino sheep, beef cattle, agroforestry, and an agritourism business. As a 2024 Nuffield Scholar and the 2022 ABC Rural Australian Farmer Of The Year, he focuses on future-proofing his diverse family farm while building on his family's agroforestry legacy.
Taylors Run family farm focusses on producing regeneratively grown ultrafine Merino with provenance and the highest possible quality each season. Soon to be available directly to select designers seeking verifiable single source ultrafine wool fibre.
Michael's broader vision is to establish multi-purpose forests on farms with natural and social capital co-benefits and carbon sequestration. His current Nuffield Scholarship is about exploring the barriers to agroforestry adoption in grazing and cropping regions.
