Afternoon Keynote: Is Artificial Intelligence helping grow farming?

06 Aug 2025
Main Stage

A large language model like ChatGPT did not write this, or did it? Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) received another boost in interest and speculation. However, what it actually can do for agriculture still needs exploring. Here, we will provide a better understanding of the basic concepts of AI using simple language and a practical example for the farming industry. By doing so, we hope to narrow the knowledge gap between AI specialists and the agriculture community. Clarity is provided for new users around the uses of AI techniques to solve agronomic problems.

3 Key Learnings

  • Data is critical; it is the new accounting, and we need to get on top of it.
  • Problem definition will define the strategic business problems that are the best candidates for AI implementations
  • Trust is critical; how can we trust the AI solution? We better have metrics around it.
